We know anabolic steroids are a sure-fire way to make to ‘all kinds of gains’. Of course there are risks involved, mainly long term – but about the ones happening every single day?
A recent study from Northumbria University discovering a link between the use of anabolic steroids and every day memory loss has just been published in the Open Psychiatry Journal – and the results are shocking.
Spearheaded by Dr. Tom Heffernan from the University’s Psychology department – Heffernan took around 100 bro’s all aged around 18-30 with around a 50/50 split of juicers and non-juicers to complete the study. See the video below:
Tech users were seen to have more gaps in their prospective, retrospective and mental executive memory functions when compared with natties.
But what the hell does that mean?
Prospective memory is remembering to make future plans – like go the gym for an electric superset bench and curls. Unfortunately using bros were 39% more forgetful than their cleaner cousins in this test.
Retrospective’s the other one; past memories and things that have happened before – like remembering that time you deadlifted your bro Gary’s car. Juicers struggled about 28% more on this test.
Lastly, there was a 32% decrease in performance for non-natural bros when it came to mental executive function. These are the core processes in the brain that allow a dude to pay attention, organize information and execute a task.
However, one of the problems with this study is the scope – 100 dudes (or should I say 50 dudes considering that’s the amount of users in this study) is not enough to scale up to the amount of bros out there taking juice. Nothing can be said for certain – but a much larger inquest is needed to really know for sure.
